the magician's office
I moved to Old Porvoo in the autumn of 2025 and started looking for a new workroom of my own. Little by little, the idea of a public magician's office began to take shape.
I managed to get a commercial space at Jokikatu 10, right in the heart of Old Porvoo, and I've been slowly building a small magic theatre and shop there. I built the room for myself as well, as a place to grow as a performer.

the magician's office, as a room, is my first proper magic trick in Porvoo. I've poured sweat and tears into creating a space where reality shifts and magic comes alive.
I work for myself, and besides corporate gigs my days are filled with looking after two small children. I can only manage a limited number of shows at the magician's office. What I want to bring to Old Porvoo is magic made the way fine dining is made: not in bulk, but for a small room, by hand, with every detail thought through. I believe the perfect counterweight to our fast-moving digital age is magic experienced live.
A shared sense of wonder

Magic is an art form that creates a fleeting but powerful sense of astonishment. It cannot be repeated or captured on video. It has to be experienced. That shared sense of wonder pulls you right into the present moment. Whatever someone's background, education or class, magic stirs genuine, positive feeling. To my mind that makes it popular entertainment in the very best sense of the words.
From the depths of the cell to hosting with magic
So how did I end up building my own magician's office? I've honed my skills as a performer over more than 15 years and hundreds of corporate events. My background isn't only in the performing arts, though: I hold a master's degree in medical biotechnology from Tampere University. Before jumping into magic and hosting full time, I worked in type 1 diabetes research.
Biotechnology is fundamentally wonderful, so it and magic turn out to be surprisingly close to one another.
My academic background is enormously useful to me as a host too, because it lets me steer events on technical or scientific themes with real command of the subject. Just as often I host evening galas and more formal occasions. There my role is usually the hosting magician: I combine running the event smoothly with magic that entertains the guests, seamlessly.
My performing career in the corporate world carries on, but alongside it I wanted a place where I could freely go deeper into the work and take my craft to a new level. the magician's office is exactly that room. It's where I bring my scientific curiosity, my honed skills as a magician and my love of creating singular experiences, and where my creativity really comes into its own.
What does the performing look like?
This promo video was made for corporate events. It still gives a good sense of how I perform and the kind of magic I do.
Johannes' show at our summer party was just the right mix of wildly funny stand-up and gripping mentalism. The audience laughed until they cried. I think everyone enjoyed it enormously!
