A team day at the magician's office

the magician's office is a small magic theatre in Old Porvoo that turns into your team's stage: for a team day, a wellbeing day or a Christmas party.

We'll put your team day together out of the best of what Old Porvoo has. Excellent food in the old town's restaurants and a walk along the cobbled streets past the red shore warehouses, with a show at the magician's office alongside it, right in the heart of Old Porvoo. There's magic in Old Porvoo, and at the magician's office that magic really does come alive.

“Good magic is like fine dining. It isn't made in bulk, but for a small room, by hand, one detail at a time.”

The trick that went wrong

A keynote on performing, taking the plunge and learning something new

What happens when you combine an expert-level keynote with modern magic? You get an experience that wakes people up, entertains them, and leaves a concrete mark on the whole workplace.

I'm Johannes Malkamäki, a magician and host. I've honed my skills as a performer for over 15 years across hundreds of corporate events. Now I've packed what I've learned into a keynote that breaks the mould of the traditional talk.

Johannes giving a keynote to a workplace

How does it work?

This isn't just a talk, it's a live demonstration of what I'm talking about. The format is built to hold an audience from beginning to end:

1

Icebreaker: It opens with a 10 to 15 minute magic show that sets the mood and loosens the audience up.

2

Theme: We move seamlessly into the theme of the day, and I tie the opening tricks straight back to the core message of the talk. The audience chooses the theme: performing skills, taking the plunge, or learning something new.

3

A shared experience: I teach the audience a magic trick, and it is what carries the day's theme straight into practice.

Choose one of three themes for your workplace

Pick whichever of these three themes serves your workplace best:

1

Performing skills

How do you turn nerves into something you can actually draw on? Performers and speakers often focus too hard on the material — or, in a magician's case, on the deck of cards — when the real focus should always be the audience.

We talk about why things going wrong is a gift rather than a disaster, and how reframing nerves can work wonders inside our own heads.

2

Taking the plunge

The only road to real, singular mastery runs through failure. How do you put up with messing up in public, and even learn to enjoy it?

This theme is a nudge to take risks and bring some playfulness into the everyday, because in the end the biggest risk is never daring to take a new direction at all.

3

Learning something new

What matters in getting better is the number of good repetitions, and building an environment where those repetitions happen naturally.

We work out why the hardest bottleneck in learning something new usually isn't putting in the repetitions, but finding the right direction. How do you best polish your own rough diamond?

Why does your workplace benefit from this?

This keynote takes apart the fears and beliefs that hold all of us back at work. Whether you're a specialist, working with customers, leading a team or running the place, you'll learn how to shake off stiffness and caution. Under cover of magic, the workplace comes away with concrete tools for taking the plunge, for treating mistakes more kindly, and for turning surprises into an asset in customer meetings or team catch-ups.

Book the keynote

Keynote dates can be booked from January 2027 onwards.

A team day at the magician's office

the magician's office is built to transform. It can be a small magic shop, a magic theatre, and for a team day it becomes a workspace for your group: projector, screen and flip chart, laid out in a creative setting.

“Meeting rooms produce meeting-room thinking.”

the magician's office invites you to play instead, and it's hard to spend a team day here without thinking more creatively than usual.

For example, like this:

Morning booking · 9am–1pm
9am

The office is yours from first thing in the morning.

morning

You hold your own meetings around the projector and the flip chart.

11.30am or 1pm

Once the formal part is over, I perform or give the keynote. You can put the show before lunch at 11.30am, or straight after it at 1pm.

We don't provide food ourselves, but Old Porvoo is full of excellent restaurants.

The space can be booked on weekdays. Mornings can be rented well in advance, but afternoons and full days open up closer to the date, because shows take priority in the room.

What the audience says

This promo video was made for corporate events. It still gives a good sense of how I perform and the kind of magic I do.

A professional and natural performer. 10/10. This is just my kind of thing.

Olli Lehtisalo

Johannes' show was a joy to watch and carried us along with it, a brilliant mix of laughter and magic for our corporate event. Absolutely one to book again!

Mia Pöyhönen
Business Director, G30 Finland Oy

Johannes' show was a complete success at the bank's careers evening. Going by the students' feedback, the man and the show were, in financial terms, a 'Strong buy.'
